Julie Guthrie creates classic dragons from literature and her imagination. Her designs are hand-cast in fine pewter to spotlight every rich detail.
The most famous legend of Saint George is of him slaying a dragon. In the Middle Ages the dragon was commonly used to represent the Devil. The slaying of the dragon by St George was first credited to him in the twelfth century, long after his death. While the stories may be fictitious, they are fantastic stories of heroism. A village was terrorized by a dragon. Somehow a princess ended up in his lair. George rode in, rescued the princess and saved the village.
